Tool
Taipei GTA controls explorer
Type an action or a key to filter the full control set, switch between on-foot, driving and menu contexts, then run the drill until F, M, T and Space are muscle memory. Everything on this page comes from the same control table the written guides use, so the two can never disagree.
Key reference
Type an action or a key to filter. This table is the same data the game guide pages use.
| Action | Key | When to use it | Context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Move the character | WASD | Explore on foot and line up with anything you want to touch. | On foot |
| Look around | Mouse | Swing the camera and set the direction you are facing. | On foot |
| Sprint | Shift | Cross an open stretch faster — it does nothing while driving. | On foot |
| Jump | Space | On foot this jumps. The same key is the handbrake once you are in a vehicle. | On foot |
| Interact | E | Follow the prompt that appears when you face something usable. | On foot |
| Switch weapon / Reload | TabR | Read the in-game prompt the first time; bindings can differ by build. | On foot |
| Enter / Exit a vehicle | F | Stand close to the scooter or car and wait for the prompt before pressing. | Driving |
| Accelerate | W | Tap it in short bursts until you can feel how fast the vehicle picks up. | Driving |
| Brake / Reverse | S | Brake before the corner. Keep holding it at a stop and you will back up. | Driving |
| Steer left / right | AD | Look at the junction, not at the vehicle, and steer early. | Driving |
| Handbrake / Drift | Space | Driving only. On foot the same key jumps, so practise it on an empty road first. | Driving |
| Horn / Radio | HQ | Sound controls that only exist while you are in a vehicle. | Driving |
| Change camera / Look behind | VC | Use it when the vehicle hides the road ahead — the fix is usually the camera, not the steering. | Driving |
| Open the map and set a destination | M | Pick a nearby destination the first time and get used to reading the map against the street. | Menus |
| Open the in-game phone | T | Missions, the metro and the other in-game apps live here. | Menus |
| Pause menu | Esc | Some browsers take the first Esc to leave fullscreen or release the mouse. Press it again. | Menus |
| Move | Left stick | A virtual stick on the left side of the screen. | On foot |
| Look around | Right swipe | Swipe on the right side of the screen while on foot. | On foot |
| Accelerate / Brake | On-screen buttons | Shown while driving. Landscape orientation leaves room for both thumbs. | On foot |

Why a searchable reference beats a printed table
A static table assumes you read it top to bottom before you play. In practice you arrive with one question — *what brakes the scooter*, *what opens the map* — and you want it answered in a second. The filter above matches either side of the pair: the action you remember, or the key you are looking at on the keyboard.
The context buttons matter more than they look. This game reuses the same physical keys across contexts: Space jumps on foot and applies the handbrake while driving, and A and D mean \"step left\" in one context and \"steer left\" in another. Filtering by context removes exactly that confusion.
Drill the bindings, not the paragraph
Reading a key list once produces recognition, and recognition is not what you need mid-corner. The drill below asks for the key behind a random action, marks the answer immediately, and keeps score so you can see when you have actually learned it. A score around nine in ten is the point where you can stop practising on purpose.
Drill: do you know the key?
Pick an answer, get instant feedback, and repeat until the whole set is automatic.
The six bindings that carry most of the game
If you memorise nothing else, memorise these. They are the ones that decide whether your first hour feels like exploring or like fighting the interface.
| Key | Action | Why it matters first |
|---|---|---|
| W A S D | Move and steer | The only input you need on foot and in a vehicle. |
| Mouse | Look around | Sets direction of travel while walking and camera while driving. |
| F | Enter or leave a vehicle | Turns walking into driving, which is where the game opens up. |
| Space | Jump or handbrake | One key, two contexts — the most common source of confusion. |
| M | Map and destination | Converts a curiosity into a route you can follow. |
| T | In-game phone | Where missions and the metro live. |

Frequently asked questions
Does the controls explorer cover touch and controllers?
It covers touch rows, which the filter treats like the on-foot context because the actions are the same. Controller buttons are not listed here on purpose: pads label their buttons differently, so the game's own menu is the only reliable mapping.
Is the drill random every time?
Yes. The question order is shuffled in your browser each session, so a high score means you know the bindings rather than the sequence.
Is anything stored when I use the tool?
No. Filtering, drilling and scoring all run inside the page; nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is saved between visits.
